I have recently become a Google+ member and have been getting my feet wet, well, I guess that you could say that I am in up to my knees now. Anyway, I love the seemingly smooth transitions. The look and feel is cozy and nice. I also love that you can filter your ‘stream’ (or timeline) (which is VERY useful–as long as you set up your ‘circles’ with filtering in mind
). I can see where it can get a bit bothersome though when your ‘Home” page is filled with streams of other people’s posts–and have to scroll to find something I WANT to read (similar to FB) my advice, as I said earlier, work with your circles and make them filters that you can turn on and off in the ‘stream’.
Also, as I do with FaceBook, I had the thought to integrate my Twitter so that my tweets would also hit my Google+ (one way to drop a line to all social media apps as i am on Twitter more often)… However, after getting in to Google+ at ankle-level, I wiped that idea right out of my head considering that all of my posts (unless I take the time to specify specific circles to send to) will be seriously polluting everyone’s streams and then I would surely lose my friends, family and followers who may not be as adept as I in setting up circles to filter.
Next gray area, mobile apps. Although we know that Google is in bed with Android, they must realize that there are other popular operating systems being used out here that need apps that are just as good as the Google Android integration to take Google+ mobile with. I have a Palm Pre (yes, still, and hoping–wishing–praying that Sprint will open their eyes to the utter brilliance of WebOS and pick up the Pre3 this fall, yea right–not holding my breath at this point), and an iPad. No app store apps for either platform. As for iPad, I know that there is an app for iPhone offered at the google mobile site, so I will install and use that one and let you all know how it goes later. But as for the WebOS device (Palm Pre), there is no app. However, I can still access Google+ mobilely, but I have to go in through the web browser. I can get my notification via SMS, but I have to return to the web browser to respond (PAINFULL process)… So, to Google+ I shout: “How about a WebOS app (HP Touchpad is pretty popular right about now… )”.
As I am still a noob, I am sure that I will learn more as I continue to take my plunge into Google+, and get back with you.
Happy Wednesday beautiful people, enjoy your day

So I won an iPad from my friends at chris.pirillo.com and www.izea.com (thanks Chris, Veronique, and Jenni
). I am so excited because I had been talking about how I wanted one to play with the iPad for the past several weeks now (and now I have one…yay! t/y)
. All that to say, you know me, there will be a review to come, but for right now, I am just really excited to have the opportunity to play with one and am patiently waiting on its arrival
. If you have any advice, tips or suggestions for my new toy… please feel free to comment
. Happy Tuesday everyone.

We won’t discuss the previous Palm WebOS ads, however, this new one really gives Palm’s superior WebOS a more powerful, versatile, integrable and FUN look. The previous few ads, though graphically ‘interesting,’ really didn’t show the unlimited power of WebOS… this one has got that “IT” factor! Nice job on this one Palm (I’m loving the new commercial).
I MUST issue a statement of apology to my techie followers. I know that I have not posted anything interesting-savvy lately…
**I have not turned in my geek card
nor have I lost my inner geekedness, I have just been busy using it
… Much love to my fellow geeks… I will be back later (if time permits) to talk about Pre tweeking…
Muahzzz…
Seems the long awaited for Palm Pre is getting some really great reviews this morning… Looks like the Pre will be a hit–as if I didn’t already know that!
Check out some of the reviews:
Engadget: Palm Pre Review – “The Palm Pre. It’s not just a phone, it’s a myth, an idea, possibly a legacy…”
Reuters: Palm Pre gets thumbs up in media reviews – “…it will be a tough competitor to Apple Inc’s iPhone…”
Gizmodo: Palm Pre Review – “The software has quite a few interesting innovations that push the concepts of what people can do with smartphones…”
The Boy Genius Report: Palm Pre Review – “…we’re pretty confident once people are able to play a real unit themselves, there will be more than a lot of happy Palm Pre customers.”
Fortune 500: Palm Pre review: To Pre or not to Pre? - “I think it’s pretty slick, and spoke with more than a few BlackBerry users who would swap out their BBs for the Pre.”
The New York Times: State of the Art: Palm Pre, Elegant Contender – “…the Pre is an elegant, joyous, multitouch smartphone; it’s the iPhone remixed.”
PC Magazine: Palm Pre (Sprint): REVIEW DATE:06.04.09 – Rated: Very Good ![]()

PC World: The long-awaited Palm Pre lives up to the hype with a responsive touchscreen and an engaging interface, but a few hardware design flaws keep it from being the perfect smartphone – “…the Palm Pre made a solid impression on me. Its eye-catching design and smooth operation make this smartphone the most exciting device I’ve seen in a while.”
The Wall Street Journal: Palm’s New Pre Takes On iPhone – “…the Pre is a smart, sophisticated product that will have particular appeal for those who want a physical keyboard. It is thoughtfully designed, works well and could give the iPhone and BlackBerry strong competition…”
USA Today: Pre could pilot Palm to smartphone glory again – “…Palm has delivered a device that will keep it in the game and give it a chance to star in it.”
CNet Reviews: - “Palm has developed a solid OS that not only rivals the competition but also sets a new standard in the way smartphones handle tasks and manage information.”
Laptop Mag: Palm’s breakthrough device is the first smart phone that truly gives the iPhone a run for its money - “The eagerly anticipated Pre beats the iPhone, Android, and BlackBerry when it comes to multitasking, and especially in how it seamlessly unifies your contact and calendar information across multiple Web services. Plus, the Pre’s slick Activity Card–based interface is downright addictive.”
Wired: Multitasking Palm Pre Brims With Power, Potential - “It’s a huge win.”
And — as an added bonus: NYT Gadetwise: Palm’s Pre Already Wins the Wallet War - “The company calculated the monthly bills for the Palm Pre (Sprint), iPhone 3G (AT&T), the Android-powered G1 (T-Mobile) and the BlackBerry Storm (Verizon). Of the four, the Palm Pre incurred the lowest monthly cost.”
Now, Im wondering… even though I don’t do lines… should I camp out for my Pre… or just wait it out… I am still undecided (I despise standing in line for any thing… camping out–a definite uh uh… that is just not me!).
Good luck every1–Happy Pre hunting
